The most important minister in River Hills Christian Church is the one reading this sentence. That’s right. It’s you. Our ministry belongs to you. In our River Hills community the people are the ministers and the staff are the “ad”-ministers who help you to serve.
Why are you important?
You are gifted. God has placed you and many hundreds of others in this place. He has enabled you to perform high quality ministry to the comfort and growth of one another and outsiders.
God’s Spirit is in you. Together we can do every kind of ministry needed by our congregation and our community. One of the key factors of our continuing influence and growth as a community will be our willingness to serve, to be on mission with God. A service mentality is God’s desire. A “serve us” mentality will limit our growth potential and displease the Father.
Where does your significant ministry happen?
It can and does happen everywhere. Most often significant ministry happens in intimate settings. It happens when you personally connect with others. In a safe community people are willing to really deal with the issues of their lives. In groups significant life-change can occur. In small groups leadership skills can be developed and appropriate skill training can occur. When we serve together in groups the needs of our city can be met in a powerful.
In the years ahead I envision our church with an increasingly large number of groups and ministry teams focused on loving God, loving people, serving the world and sharing the story.
So, I must say it again – you are important. You may not realize how gifted and important you are, but be alert. God has great things in store for you.
